Session 4: The Gate

On their way back into town, the Loremaer brothers once again bumped into Brom, who was helping a strange, small earth elemental move stones across the road. They continued toward the academy and Malzeer, wearing Arelen's amulet, managed to pass through the protective barrier into the school. Overjoyed, Malzeer realized he had to be cautious and not make it obvious that he didn't belong, so he didn't accompany Keleth back to meet with the school staff.

Keleth stopped short outside of the staff hall, overhearing a conversation from inside where Grell did his best to manipulate the staff and Asha did her best to rebuff him. Keleth was shortly summoned into the room, and gave a half-true report of the events in the cave. Professor Blackwell took the dirt and went out of sight into a separate room. Keleth was briefly interrogated by Grell while Asha tried to soften the interaction, getting visibly annoyed by the smarmy professor.

Meanwhile, Malzeer reported back to Aaron, who he assumed sent him the instructions to seek out Arelen. Aaron denies any involvement, explaining that he has to leave town to resolve a guild matter in a port town to the south called Dolhaven.

In the staff hall, Blackwell returned only a few minutes later, carrying Arelen's limp body. Keleth was stunned that Blackwell had already been to and returned from the cave, as the journey had taken the brothers over an hour of travel time each way. Before the boy could ask any questions, he was dismissed from the office.

The two reconvened at home with their butler Remmington crafting a dinner. The Loremaers began strategizing on how they were going to go after Delba and how they were going to get Malzeer admitted to school as a student now that he had access. When they sat down for their meal, Remmington began doting over their wounds. He revealed himself to have the healing techniques of a paladin, curing an infected wound Malzeer contracted from the Zombies. 

The next morning, the boys picked up a leaflet left on their doorstep with the headline: "Deacon Ullar Betrays Cramora - Baton Crest Massacre."
